Junior Coaching

 

Starts Tuesday September 15th - registered players must be affiliated before they attend otherwise they are not insured! see the JUNIOR page

 

at Braintree College Sports Hall

Juniors school years 4 to 11 - cost £20 per term

years 4- 6 from 6pm to 7pm, years 7- 8 from 7pm to 8pm, years 9 and over from 8pm to 9pm

England Netball affiliation fees - £17 per annum paid August - also due on joining.

 

N.B. If you wish to come to coaching you must register (affiliate to England Netball) and complete a personal registration form!  Please contact coach@braintree-town-netball.org for details or click here. New players not previously registered with England Netball may attend coaching for 3 sessions before affiliating.

 

Core skills we have worked on and will work on in future ...

 

Movement - sprinting, side steps, pivoting, dodging, reverse pivot, change of direction, jumping.

 

Passing - catching, chest pass, shoulder pass, underarm pass, bounce pass, dribble pass.

 

Shooting - Lunging, Split step, holding space, penalties.

 

Match play:

 

Attacking - Split leads, channels, bands, centre passes.

 

Defending - Intercepting, marking, zoning, double marking, tracking & opening.  

 

Some netball measurements for you . . .

 

The Ball weighs 400 - 450 gms (14 - 16 ounces) and measures 690 - 710 mms (27 - 28 inches) in circumference. For senior netballers it's a size 5.

The Court is 30.5 metres (100 feet) long and 15.25 metres (50 feet) wide, which is divided into thirds. Centre circle 0.9 metres (3 feet) diameter and two goal circles which are semi-circles measuring 4.9 metres (16 feet) in radius.

All Lines are part of the court and measure 50mm (2 inches) in width.

The Goal Posts are placed mid point of each goal line and measure 3.05 metres (10 feet) in height. The goal rings have an internal diameter of 380mm (15 inches). The goal ring projects horizontally from the post on a single attachment measuring 150mm (6 inches) in length. For school years 4, 5 & 6 the posts are lowered to 9ft and high 5's is played. For year 3 and 4 beginners the posts are lowered to 8ft.
